Chery Unveils Bold New Tiggo 9L Concept at Auto Shanghai 2025
25 April 2025Chinese automotive manufacturer Chery made a striking impression at Auto Shanghai 2025 with the debut of its latest concept vehicle, the Chery Tiggo 9L. Positioned as a flagship SUV, the Tiggo 9L introduces a bold new design direction, clearly distinct from the Tiggo 9 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) or plug-in hybrid variant, which is expected to enter the Indonesian market.
The Tiggo 9L stands out with its imposing proportions and muscular build. The SUV adopts a modern boxy silhouette, typical of today’s off-road-ready vehicles. A large “CHERY” emblem dominates the front fascia, reinforcing its strong, rugged identity.
The vehicle’s exterior design is defined by its prominent wheel arches and sleek, square-shaped headlamps. A continuous light strip runs across the front, linking both headlights and enhancing the vehicle’s futuristic appeal. The large lettering of the “CHERY” logo is positioned prominently at the centre of the grille, completing its aggressive front-end styling.
At the rear, the SUV retains its angular form with slightly rounded edges that complement the front’s design language. Vertical taillights with a distinct “H” pattern and a glossy black finish give the back end a refined yet bold look. A large “CHERY” badge is also placed across the tailgate, ensuring strong brand visibility both during the day and at night.
While specific technical specifications have not yet been officially disclosed, reports suggest that the Tiggo 9L may be equipped with either the CDM-S or CSH hybrid systems. These are believed to deliver a maximum output of 200 kW and a peak torque of 400 Nm.
The powertrain is expected to include a traditional internal combustion engine paired with three electric motors—one on the front axle and two at the rear—resulting in an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration. This setup not only enhances the SUV’s off-road capabilities but also promises improved handling dynamics. In full electric mode, the Tiggo 9L is reportedly capable of covering up to 200 kilometres, with a combined total range exceeding 1,500 kilometres, making it suitable for both urban commuting and long-distance adventures.
The Chery Tiggo 9L’s debut marks a significant step forward for the brand as it seeks to compete in the increasingly crowded global SUV market with cutting-edge design, electrified performance, and a focus on versatility.
