Chery is set to make waves at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show with the surprising return of its iconic compact city car, the Chery QQ. This marks a significant move, as the QQ model was officially discontinued in 2014. Although Chery has confirmed the concept’s presence at the show, the company has yet to reveal whether this new-generation QQ will enter mass production or remain a design study for now.

Unlike its predecessor, which earned a reputation as an affordable, small-scale vehicle, the all-new QQ features a bold redesign with modern, futuristic elements. Based on the images released so far, the concept car sports a sleek black and white two-tone finish, creating a sharp contrast that adds a touch of elegance to its appearance.

The car’s body is rounded and compact, clearly retaining its identity as an urban runabout designed for agility and eco-friendliness. According to CarNewsChina, the front end is notably streamlined, ditching the traditional air intake grille. Instead, it features a closed front fascia—typical of electric vehicles—signifying its all-electric nature. The headlamps, designed with sharp geometric lines, contribute to a daring yet minimalist look.

A redesigned “QQ” emblem sits proudly on the front fascia, hinting at Chery’s intention to reimagine the QQ brand with a fresh identity. Along the side, the vehicle’s futuristic appeal continues with the inclusion of digital wing mirrors in place of conventional ones. Door handles are nowhere to be seen, replaced by flush-mounted units or possibly even a fully automated access system.

Further enhancing its distinctive styling, the QQ concept rides on uniquely designed alloy wheels that form a “+” shape, complementing the overall aesthetic. The “QQ” badge reappears on the C-pillar, while the inscription ‘Chery Design’ on the side skirts underlines the vehicle’s in-house development and branding.
